Yes, good point, although I have not heard 'liberal environmentalists' suggest drones with any conviction. This gets to the key problem. We could easily put in a virtual wall, with cameras, drones, sensors, etc. Unfortunately this gets back into the issue which is that most of our current illegal migration laws are ignored or, by various direct and indirect means, thwarted. Due to a combination of Multi-Marxism (ranging from naive wide-eyed fashionable virtue-signaling to the purposeful destruction of the West) and predatory capitalism (cheap labor), there is a large 'fifth column' in the US that is absolutely determined to keep the borders open at all costs.

Many other measures, like drones, can be much more easily and covertly thwarted than just a big-O wall. Interestingly, most nations routinely have border walls and fences and no one objects. It only becomes an issue of evil when Western nations try to stop invasions. Doubly sad, since we now have the technology to do this without a wall, the tolerant 'environmentalist' Compassion Police are really part of the root cause of whatever environmental destruction might occur from a wall (minus the current environmental destruction caused by armies of littering illegals now trudging across the border)--but still will be less than the environmental Armageddon of infinitely redoubling American population numbers due to open borders. Thanks much for the thoughtful input.
