RRW: Was there fraud in the huge resettlement of Burmese ‘refugees’ to the US? - "since FY06 we have admitted a whopping 167,583 Burmese people and they were coming before 2006 and are still coming"

They must have found something at the USCIS or a thousand Burmese living in the US right now wouldn’t have gotten a letter to report to a USCIS office.
Was there fraud in transit country, Malaysia???
(Checking Wrapsnet I see that since FY06 we have admitted a whopping 167,583 Burmese people and they were coming before 2006 and are still coming, see map below.)
Here is a short article at the Des Moines Register about the “summons” Burmese living in Iowa have received:
Dozens of refugees in Iowa received letters from immigration officials asking them to appear for an interview and provide information that validates their status.
The refugees are from the country formerly known as Burma, a group that has grown in the past five years to include more than 8,000 living in Iowa. ...

According to the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, 68 million people around the world are or at risk of becoming refugees. The migration of a few million people has already turned the European Union inside out and motivated the election of an America-first presidency. What we have seen so far, though, is nothing compared to what is to come.
Fertility is declining in almost all the educated and prosperous parts of the world, notably including East Asia. But it remains extremely high in the least-educated parts of the world with the worst governance and the poorest growth prospects. ...

Editor’s note: This is the second in a three-part series on South Dakota’s pocket of resistance and what it is up against. Read part one here.
As I walked through the state Capitol in Pierre, S.D., last week, I was struck by the magnificent beauty of the building, especially the murals that cover the interior walls and ceilings.
Many of the murals have a Christian theme. The one right over the main Senate chamber depicts the settlers of this great state as they reached out to the Native Americans with the good news of the gospel of Jesus Christ.
The Capitol was completed in 1910, and the vast majority of South Dakotans were, at that point, still proud of their Christian heritage and how they shared their faith with a culture as yet unfamiliar with Jesus Christ, his life, ministry and message of salvation.
My, my, how much has changed in 100 years.
Many of the Lutherans here seem only interested in bringing the Muslims in from Somalia and caring for their initial physical needs, then abandoning them to the state and federal welfare agencies. Their spiritual needs are ignored pretty much from day one.
In fact, the Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Services, like the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, has signed a contract with the U.S. State Department to resettle refugees in the U.S. from countries that hate America, including Somalia, Afghanistan and Sudan, while at the same time agreeing not to proselytize the refugees from these anti-Western Islamic cultures, where violence against women and gays, not to mention violent jihad, are pervasive.
The very word “Islam” means “submission.” They push. We submit. This is the new norm in Western societies from Germany and Sweden to Canada, Australia and the U.S. This is how Western societies are being weakened from within. ...

Pat Buchanan: The Eternal Lure of Nationalism - "Does anyone think Angela Merkel looks like the future?"

What vision do our “elites” offer?
In a surprise overtime victory in the finals of the Olympic men’s hockey tournament, the Russians defeated Germany, 4-3.
But the Russians were not permitted to have their national anthem played or flag raised, due to a past doping scandal. So, the team ignored the prohibition and sang out the Russian national anthem over the sounds of the Olympic anthem.
One recalls the scene in “Casablanca,” where French patrons of Rick’s saloon stood and loudly sang the “La Marseillaise” to drown out the “Die Wacht am Rhein” being sung by a table of German officers.
When the combined North-South Korean Olympic team entered the stadium, Vice President Mike Pence remained seated and silent. But tens of thousands of Koreans stood and cheered the unified team.
America may provide a defensive shield for the South, but Koreans on both sides of the DMZ see themselves as one people. And, no fool, Kim Jong Un is exploiting the deep tribal ties he knows are there.
Watching the Russians defiantly belt out their anthem, one recalls also the 1968 summer Olympics in Mexico City where sprinters Tommie Smith and John Carlos stood on the podium, black gloved fists thrust skyward in a Black Power salute, asserting their separate racial identity
Western elites may deplore the return of nationalism. But they had best not dismiss it, for assertions of national and tribal identity appear to be what the future is going to be all about. ...

Image result for litter from border crossers

Yes, good point, although I have not heard 'liberal environmentalists' suggest drones with any conviction. This gets to the key problem. We could easily put in a virtual wall, with cameras, drones, sensors, etc. Unfortunately this gets back into the issue which is that most of our current illegal migration laws are ignored or, by various direct and indirect means, thwarted. Due to a combination of Multi-Marxism (ranging from naive wide-eyed fashionable virtue-signaling to the purposeful destruction of the West) and predatory capitalism (cheap labor), there is a large 'fifth column' in the US that is absolutely determined to keep the borders open at all costs.

Many other measures, like drones, can be much more easily and covertly thwarted than just a big-O wall. Interestingly, most nations routinely have border walls and fences and no one objects. It only becomes an issue of evil when Western nations try to stop invasions. Doubly sad, since we now have the technology to do this without a wall, the tolerant 'environmentalist' Compassion Police are really part of the root cause of whatever environmental destruction might occur from a wall (minus the current environmental destruction caused by armies of littering illegals now trudging across the border)--but still will be less than the environmental Armageddon of infinitely redoubling American population numbers due to open borders. Thanks much for the thoughtful input.

Breitbart: ‘Free Speech’ Suit Aims to End Twitter’s Political Censorship

A group of free-speech lawyers filed the most serious legal challenge yet to Twitter’s censorship policies Tuesday in San Francisco County Superior Court, seeking a ruling preventing Twitter from banning users purely on the basis of their views and political associations.

The 29-page complaint contends that, under a California legal doctrine that recognizes some private facilities as “public forums,” Twitter may not discriminate against speech on their platform based purely on viewpoint. If successful, it would be the first extension of that doctrine to internet social media platforms and could transform the way free speech is treated online. The suit became all the more relevant Wednesday as Twitter stood accused of locking out thousands of conservatives under the guise of cracking down on “Russian bots.”

The genesis of the suit is Twitter’s November 2017 announcement that they would start banning and sanctioning users based on their offline behavior and associations. On December 18, 2017, Twitter, five years after their top British executive described the company as “the free speech wing of the free speech party,” made good on this threat, “purging” hundreds of mostly right-wing users. Twitter’s new policy refers to association with “violent extremist groups,” and a company blog post claimed, “If an account’s profile information includes a violent threat or multiple slurs, epithets, racist or sexist tropes, incites fear, or reduces someone to less than human, it will be permanently suspended.”

One of those purged is Jared Taylor, founder and editor of “American Renaissance,” a fringe-right journal on race and immigration. He is frequently described as an “extremist” and a “white supremacist” by left-wing groups like the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) and the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), the latter of which sits on Twitter’s “Trust and Safety Council,” the largely leftist group of activists and non-profits Twitter assembled in 2016 to help decide which speech to censor.

Taylor is a graduate of Yale University and Paris’s Sciences Po, the former West Coast editor of PC Magazine, and author of several books. He describes himself as a “white advocate” or “race realist” and condemns Nazism and antisemitism.

According to the complaint, in his more than six years on Twitter, Taylor never made threats, harassed anyone, or otherwise came under scrutiny for his behavior on the platform. Even the SPLC notes Taylor “scrupulously avoided racist epithets [and] employed the language of academic journals” in his writings, and Taylor once wrote an article urging people to be more civil on Twitter. ...

Hohmann: S Dakota GOP Gov Dennis Daugaard leads fight against ending refugee influx from Somalia and other jihadist strongholds

[ ... ]
Refugee resettlement has over the past couple of years become a controversial subject in many state capitals as more Americans educate themselves on the dark underbelly of a program that has been transforming U.S. cities and towns for 35 years.
South Dakota — like Idaho, Ohio, Michigan, Texas, Tennessee, West Virginia and Minnesota — is a state where patriotic Americans have formed pockets of resistance to the resettlements. They’ve seen the fraud and greed upon which the program — run by the United Nations in cooperation with the U.S. State Department and its federal contractors affiliated with private agencies like Catholic Charities and Lutheran Social Services — is based.
Every White House since Jimmy Carter has been on board with the program. To be fair, the refugee program in the early days did serve to rescue victims of communist oppression from Vietnam, Cambodia and Russia. But it morphed over the years into a totally different beast. It now serves as a population redistribution program whereby Third Worlders from jihadist strongholds like Iraq, Syria, Somalia, Sudan and Afghanistan, find their way to unsuspecting U.S. cities and towns. ...

Immigration has become a central battleground in Italy’s election, along with fear of crime, a battered economy, and disgust with political incumbents. Parties of the right are pledging to kick out hundreds of thousands of undocumented migrants.
The governing center-left, which argues there are no simple solutions, is struggling to prevent an erosion of its vote—even in bastions such as Umbertide, a town once so solidly left-wing that local cynics called it “little Stalingrad.”
Italy is at the forefront of Europe’s migration crisis, now that the Balkans and other paths to Europe have become less passable for people from the poor and war-torn regions nearby. More than 750,000 migrants have reached Italy’s shores since 2011, most of them rescued from rickety boats while trying to cross the Mediterranean from Africa.
A survey by research institute Demos & Pi in November found that 43% of Italians think immigrants represent a danger to public order and people’s safety, up from 33% in 2015.  ...

Angela Merkel on Monday tapped the popular female premier of Germany's tiny Saarland state to take over as secretary general of her conservative party, fuelling speculation the veteran chancellor is lining up her successor.

At a joint Berlin press conference, Merkel said she was "moved" that close confidante Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer, 55, would take the reins from her right-hand man Peter Tauber at "a difficult time" for their Christian Democratic Union (CDU) party.

The surprise reshuffle comes after Tauber said at the weekend he was stepping down for health reasons, and with Merkel struggling to form a new government after a tricky general election last September.

The chancellor praised Kramp-Karrenbauer, known as AKK, as someone "who has experience and knows her own mind, whose work I have valued for years".

Both women were coy however about whether the move meant Merkel had effectively anointed AKK as her heir apparent. ...
