     (1) Yours truly has always thought it odd that every draft-age man in your family could have died fighting the Nazis but if white you are still considered a potential Nazi;

     (2) I recall many years ago living in Santa Barbara when they festooned the lamp posts with posters of Anne Frank. 'Never Forget!' It was as if this sleepy liberal resort and university town might suddenly be gripped with its inherent hate, Storm Troopers soon to be goosestepping down sunny Cabrillo Boulevard along seaside emerald-green Palm Park, the noisy treads of the Panzer tanks surprising suntanned bikini girls and laid-back surfer dudes alike. '
