The sweet remembrance of the just
Shall flourish when they sleep in dust.
Who controls the past controls the future.
Who controls the present controls the past. . . .
"What is more important, is to perpetuate those things of beauty which are of real value because involving actual sense-impressions rather than vapid theories. “Equality” is a joke — but a great abbey or cathedral, covered with moss, is a poignant reality. It is for us to safeguard and preserve the conditions which produce great abbeys, and palaces, and picturesque walled towns, and vivid sky-lines of steeples and domes, and luxurious tapestries, and fascinating books, paintings, and statuary, and colossal organs and noble music, and dramatic deeds on embattled fields… these are all there is of life; take them away and we have nothing which a man of taste or spirit would care to live for. Take them away and our poets have nothing to sing — our dreamers have nothing to dream about. […]" . . .

Adam Silver's ban of Donald Sterling unites NBA (We all have our popcorn in hand and the cameras are rolling. It's a little like 'The Hunger Games,' isn't it? Each month another high-profile 'racist' gets to be tossed into the angry bubbling 'liberal' volcano to the cheers of the professional anti-racists.)

LOS ANGELES – From the moment Adam Silver listened to those tapes of Donald Sterling, the NBA's commissioner understood the unmistakable and unprecedented breadth of his burden: He had to make an owner disappear. . . .

New York Times: Southern Whites’ Loyalty to G.O.P. Nearing That of Blacks to Democrats (Of course that Obama won blacks by an even greater lopsided margin does not indicate any troubling "race" factor.)

Southern Whites’ Loyalty to G.O.P. Nearing That of Blacks to Democrats

Areas where Obama won 20% or less of the white vote in 2012

President Obama’s landslide victory in 2008 was supposed to herald the beginning of a new Democratic era. And yet, six years later, there is not even a clear Democratic majority in the country, let alone one poised for 30 years of dominance.

It’s not because Mr. Obama’s so-called new coalition of young and nonwhite voters failed to live up to its potential. They again turned out in record numbers in 2012. The Democratic majority has failed to materialize because the Republicans made large, countervailing and unappreciated gains of their own among white Southerners.

From the high plains of West Texas to the Atlantic Coast of Georgia, white voters opposed Mr. Obama’s re-election in overwhelming numbers. In many counties 90 percent of white voters chose Mitt Romney, nearly the reversal of the margin by which black voters supported Mr. Obama.

While white Southerners have been voting Republican for decades, the hugeness of the gap was new. Mr. Obama often lost more than 40 percent of Al Gore’s support among white voters south of the historically significant line of the Missouri Compromise. Two centuries later, Southern politics are deeply polarized along racial lines. It is no exaggeration to suggest that in these states the Democrats have become the party of African Americans and that the Republicans are the party of whites. . . .

Professor: "Racist, misogynist, money-grubbing people" want to stop blacks, Latinos from voting

A professor at Eastern Connecticut State University (ECSU) was caught on audio telling his creative writing class that Republicans will close colleges if they prevail in 2014 and that “racist, misogynist, money-grubbing people” want to suppress the liberal vote.
In a four-minute recording of a classroom lecture obtained by Campus ReformProfessor Brent Terry is heard strongly suggesting that conservatives are greedy racists who want to suppress the vote of anyone who might vote liberal. . . .

Winchester: Churchill Quotation Gets Liberty GB Leader Paul Weston Arrested (A British politician arrested in Britain for publicly quoting Winston Churchill--could it possibly get any crazier than this?!)

Today Paul Weston, chairman of the party Liberty GB and candidate in the 22 May European Elections in the South East, has been arrested in Winchester.
At around 2pm Mr Weston was standing on the steps of Winchester Guildhall, addressing the passers-by in the street with a megaphone. He quoted the following excerpt about Islam from the book The River War by Winston Churchill:
"How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live. A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property – either as a child, a wife, or a concubine – must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men. Thousands become the brave and loyal soldiers of the faith: all know how to die but the influence of the religion paralyses the social development of those who follow it. No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith."
Reportedly a woman came out of the Guildhall and asked Mr Weston if he had the authorisation to make this speech. When he answered that he didn’t, she told him "It's disgusting!" and then called the police.
Six or seven officers arrived. They talked with the people standing nearby, asking questions about what had happened. The police had a long discussion with Mr Weston, lasting about 40 minutes.
At about 3pm he was arrested. They searched him, put him in a police van and took him away. . . .

I am trying to think of any American politician who would be willing to go to jail to defy the Tolerance Police. Thinking . . . thinking . . . thinking . . .

Ricardo Duchesne on Will Kymlicka: Living up to Western Ideals

Ricardo Duchesne is well-known to TOO readers. His The Uniqueness of Western Civilization is essential reading not only for an understanding of the deep wellsprings of Western culture, but for his attacks on the Cultural Marxists who now dominate the academic world in an effort to remake the Western world in the name of multiculturalism and displacement-level non-White immigration.
Prof. Duchesne continues his attacks on intellectually bankrupt academics with an article on Will Kymlicka appearing in the Canadian journal, The Quarterly Review (“Will Kymlicka and the disappearing Dominion“).
A theme of Prof. Duchesne’s writing on academics like Kymlicka is that they are having wonderful careers. The reward structure of the academic world favors those who are willing to plug themselves wholeheartedly into the multicultural zeitgeist. In Uniqueness he describes them as “happily ensconced within a world of like-minded academics, backed by multiple grants and prestigious titles.” Kymlicka is no exception . . .

US House speaker faces competition in Ohio primary

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — John Boehner's primary races are often about as challenging as a tap-in putt. However, the U.S. House speaker and avid golfer faces stepped-up competition back home this time.

With three GOP opponents on the ballot and some outside money aimed against him, Boehner's campaign has run two rounds of television ads amid other voter outreach efforts.
Boehner last week worked his 8th House District that stretches across six counties, making five announced stops over three days through western Ohio.
"We take every race very seriously," campaign spokesman Cory Fritz said. And, he said, without major statewide GOP primaries for governor, U.S. senator or attention-grabbing issues on the May 6 ballot, the campaign saw a need to "start mobilizing and energizing the base."
Bryan Marshall, a political scientist at Miami University, said factors such as a national tea party group pumping money into the district race and opponents painting Boehner as the face of a dysfunctional Washington make this primary more intriguing than others Boehner has faced.
Boehner, who first won the seat in 1990, racked up 84 percent of the 2012 vote against one candidate and 85 percent against two 2010 challengers after three straight uncontested primaries in the Republican-dominated district.
Marshall said while there appears to be little doubt about Boehner winning re-nomination, his opponents could attract votes from Republicans who are unhappy about the federal deficit, immigration (italics added) or other issues. . . .

What is Obama's massive magical illegal-alien child magnet? And how does it kill? Find out here!

Obama’s Illegal Alien Magnet Kills Another Child

Obama’s Illegal Alien Magnet Kills Another Child

By Brenda Walker on April 26, 2014
The Obama mega-magnet for aliens to enter the United States by any means necessary is drawing ever more unaccompanied minors.America! Now with even fewer deportations, so come on over! The DREAM Act, rejected by Congress, has been substantially enactedby Obama’s mighty pen all by his lonesome, so kids are particularly targeted.
But some don’t make it—like 12-year-old Ecuadoran Noemi Álvarez Quillay who hanged herself in a Juarez children’s shelter in March. She had gotten half-way on the journey earlier and didn’t want to go again. But her illegal alien parents insisted:
Noemi Álvarez Quillay took the first steps of the 6,500-mile journey to New York City from the southern highlands of Ecuador on Tuesday, Feb. 4, after darkness fell.
A bashful, studious girl, Noemi walked 10 minutes across dirt roads that cut through corn and potato fields, reaching the highway to Quito. She carried a small suitcase. Her grandfather Cipriano Quillay flagged down a bus and watched her board. She was 12.Noemie
From that moment, and through the remaining five weeks of her life, Noemi was in the company of strangers, including coyotes — human smugglers, hired by her parents in the Bronx to bring her to them. Her parents had come to the United States illegally and settled in New York when Noemi was a toddler.
Noemi was part of a human flood tide that has swelled since 2011: The United States resettlement agency expects to care for nine times as many unaccompanied migrant children in 2014 as it did three years ago.
For these children wandering thousands of miles, it is a grueling journey, filled with dangers. The vast majority come from Central America. Noemi's trip was about twice as long. She had already tried once, leaving home last May, but was detained long before she even made it halfway.
"I went with a coyote and spent two months in Nicaragua and came back from there," she wrote in a school information sheet.
She got a little closer this year. In March, a month after she left home, the police picked up Noemi and a coyote in Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. The authorities took her to a children's shelter. She was described as crying inconsolably after being questioned by a prosecutor. A few days later, she was found hanged from a shower curtain rod in a bathroom at the shelter. Her death, ruled a suicide by Mexican authorities, remains under investigation by a human rights commission there.
A 12-Year-Old's Trek of Despair Ends in a Noose at the BorderBy Jim Dwyer, New York Times, April 19, 2014. Emphasis added.
Obviously, something terrible happened to this little girl, But theNew York Times doesn’t want to emphasize how dangerous the journey north is for women and girls. Rape, robbery and death are common. But policy causes are absolutely off the table for discussion. . . .

Whole Lotta Lutfur Rahman: Ethnocracy vs Democracy in Brave New Britain - "Mass immigration means that democracy is replaced by ethnocracy, in which non-productive groups vote for the power to loot productive groups... But Whites are also being looted by the over-class."

Whole Lotta Lutfur: Ethnocracy vs Democracy in Brave New Britain

Lutfur Rahman (centre): Turning Britain into Bangladesh

Britain needs a new national anthem. I suggest Jerry Lee Lewis’s “Whole Lotta Shakin’ Goin’ On.” Just look at the vibrancy here, for example:
An investigation is not Islamophobia
Lutfur Rahman is Britain’s first directly elected [West] Asian mayor. On 22 May [2014], he seeks re-election. He says he aspires to the highest standards of transparency and probity and that he welcomes scrutiny.
Two weeks ago, on [the BBC programme] Panorama, we scrutinised the way he’s run this most diverse of boroughs [Tower Hamlets]. Instead of welcoming this, the mayor employed a major City law firm and a PR company at huge public expense to try to get the programme stopped.
Tower Hamlets is home to the largest Bangladeshi population in Britain. The mayor says he seeks only to promote harmony; his Gandhi-like watchword is “No Place for Hate”. Yet before even a frame had been transmitted, a fusillade of hate-filled tweets screamed from his closest supporters: the [television] licence fee had been “used to preach hate”, to “demonise Muslims” and to “peddle racism and Islamophobia”.
The mayor launched an inflammatory 26-minute counter-documentary, weeks in the making. Fat was poured on this fire by a young Bengali researcher, who made increasingly fantastical claims that we were “Islamophobic bullies” and handed confidential research material from our production, including source notes, to the mayor’s office. Because of concerns about her reliability, we had asked her to leave the team after five days. …
In the run-up to the election, there have been widespread and persistent allegations by opposition councillors that Mr Rahman skewed the award of nearly £9m of grants in favour of Bengali- and Somali-run organisations to help him get out the vote on 22 May. The mayor categorically denies this, insisting that he awarded the grants solely on the basis of need. …
The upshot of this 70 per cent cash “churn” was that the mayor increased funding to Bengali and Somali organisations by 139.5 per cent from £1.5m to £3.6m. He cut what was left for other organisations by 25 per cent overall. (An investigation is not IslamophobiaThe Independent, 13th April 2014)

FBI Video Warning About Spying for China Stars White College Student - "Under these circumstances wouldn’t it make sense for the FBI to make a cautionary video warning high-tech companies and military contractors to keep an eye on Chinese scientists? Of course not. That would be profiling."

FBI Video Warning About Spying for China Stars White College Student

The truth would be too awkward.

Espionage is a serious crime, and the penalties are especially high if the spy is a US citizen. Some Americans can be persuaded to spy for a foreign government in exchange for money and other alluring promises.
That’s what happened to Glenn Shriver, a cash-strapped college student who was studying in China in 2004. Chinese intelligence plied him with attractive girls and offered him money to apply to work for at such places as the CIA and the State Department so he could spy for China.
Mr. Shriver was caught in 2010, and sentenced to four years in prison. His story is the basis of “Game of Pawns,” a recent video produced by the FBI to warn students studying abroad against being lured into espionage.
This effort by the FBI completely fails to mention that the people who spy for China are almost always ethnic Chinese. And they don’t need promises of money and sex. . . .

Pat Gray: Don’t Applaud Illegal Immigrants, Hold Them Responsible for Breaking the Law - "yes, it was Nova’s parents who came here the wrong way. But is that our fault? Do we have to fix it all for her? Is it our responsibility to change our laws and our society to accommodate all the children of illegal aliens? No, this is absurd! Can we stop this madness, please?! Why are we the only nation on earth that is expected to behave this way?"

Pat Gray: Don’t Applaud Illegal Immigrants, Hold Them Responsible for Breaking the Law

OK, I have had it UP TO HERE with all the lies about illegal immigration and all of the false premises and the straw-man arguments. I've HAD IT! I really can’t take it anymore.
Last week Hillary Clinton was at some “Up With Women” sort of conference, talking about women’s issues. During this estrogen-inspired event, a 19-year-old named “Nova” stood and told her heart-wrenching story.
Nova, for the “first time publicly,” announced she was an “undocumented immigrant.” To which, the audience applauded (granted, after some prompting from Nova).
First of all, why would you applaud the fact that someone was in the United States illegally? Even prompted?
“Yea! Thank you for sneaking into our country! We sure do appreciate you breaking our laws!” . . .

"'Every Man His Own Commissar': Jared Taylor and the Politics of Race" By Jeff Lipkes in 'The American Thinker' - “People who immigrated from the Soviet Union were amazed to find that Americans are more afraid of the ‘diversity’ regime than Russians were of the Communists. And at least under the Soviets there was a clear enemy: the censors and the secret police. In America -- the land of the free -- every man is his own commissar.”

Every Man His Own Commissar': Jared Taylor and the Politics of Race
    - - -

Good manners are infectious.  Jared Taylor’s civility and dapper appearance impress even those sending him death threats:  the most recent one addresses him as “Mr. Taylor.”  In an age when even upper-class Brits loosen the upper lip and revert to first names after one email exchange, we remained “Mr.” and “Mr.”
Taylor, founder of American Renaissance and New Century Foundation, usually appears in public in a jacket and tie, though he sheds the latter for his infrequent speeches on campuses.  Men at the annual Am Ren conference are also required to wear jackets and ties, the women, dresses.  “It acts like classical music at a mall,” Taylor says.
His accent is hard to place.  He aspirates the “h” in words like “white,” a genteel habit that went out of fashion in the ‘60s.  He does not quite sound like a contemporary American; his diction is a little too precise.
But then he didn’t grow up in this country.  The son of missionaries, Taylor spent his first 16 years in Japan.  He speaks that language like a native -- he is still mistaken for Japanese over the phone. . . .
