Every year, colleges and universities across the nation go to great lengths to keep conservatism off campus. 2017 brought about a perpetual state of outrage, with college students and faculty attempting to stomp out everything from the Constitution to Conservative clubs. One North Carolina college, however, took a slightly different approach.

The President of Warren Wilson College, a private North Carolina school with a liberal reputation, announced that the school will proactively recruit conservative students to increase intellectual diversity on campus. While the school deserves credit for recognizing the threat liberal bias places on a vibrant marketplace of ideas, sending the sheep to the slaughter isn’t the answer. The reality is, America’s campuses are unwelcoming at best, and dangerous at worst, for conservatives.

A better approach would be to actually protect freedom of expression on campus. ...

A federal judge in Florida has blocked the government from deporting the 92 Somalis who made it to West Africa before some yet-to-be-explained glitch caused their deportation flight to return to the US.  See previous posts here and here.

The usual argument is being raised that we can’t possibly return migrants who have committed crimes in the US back to S***hole countries. It would be inhumane, immigrant activists claim.

So, what this says to me is, if we will be barred from sending lawbreakers back, then we must vigorously keep them out of the US in the first place through robust screening. 

Otherwise, taxpayers will be expected to pay for their incarceration for years!

Clearly! the Christian, Jewish and secular federal resettlement agencies do not want extra vetting for Muslims from terror-producing countries. Oh no!

The Homeland Security Department announced Monday that it was lifting the outright ban on refugees from these eleven countries, but certain individuals would undergo greater scrutiny before they would be admitted to the US for you to take care of with your tax dollars.

Illegal immigrants are quietly being placed on commercial airliners, paid for by the government, and relocated from border areas into cities across the interior of the United States according to a new report by the watchdog agency Judicial Watch.

In the last week alone, groups of illegal aliens boarded planes at airports in Texas and Arizona accompanied by a taxpayer-funded government escort in civilian clothes to avoid drawing attention, high-ranking Homeland Security officials told JW.

The first flight originated at Valley International Airport in Harlingen, Texas, and was bound for Minneapolis. The second left from Tucson International Airport and arrived in Salt Lake City, Utah, federal sources told JW.

In both cases the illegal aliens appeared to be in their late teens and were escorted by a Health and Human Services chaperone. Judicial Watch contacted HHS for comment but did not hear back from the agency.

The illegal aliens wear red HHS wrist bands and receive “the gold-glove treatment,” according to a veteran federal official, who added that the undocumented migrants get priority boarding ahead of all other passengers, including law enforcement personnel.

“It is shameful and dangerous,” said a seasoned Homeland Security agent with direct knowledge of the secret operations. ...

We can get excited about the slowdown in the normal refugee flow to America (see post yesterday), but here comes the very abnormal flow—58 of the Australia-rejected mostly single men who have been detained by the Aussies for as long as four years will now be free in America.

The deal, originally agreed to by Obama as he was walking out the door, represents an application of international refugee law that is simply unheard of and possibly illegal.

A legitimate asylum seeker is to ask for asylum in the first safe country in which he or she arrives.  If Australia rejected them, they should be returned home, not given a ticket to America! ...

This is the bare bones story from Cleveland.com this past week (hat tip: Jim) that sent me out looking for more on the Iraqi “national” who was sentenced, not to life in prison, for a horrific murder that saw him bury his dead wife in front of their 3-year-old, but to 25 years on a plea deal.

(Is the plea deal just to keep more politically incorrect details from the public that would have come out in what would surely be a sensational jury trial?)
