Orr cancels creditors' bus tour of Detroit (Got spooked when bus driver handed out complimentary body bags?)

Orr cancels creditors' bus tour of Detroit

Detroit's Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr

Detroit — Emergency Manager Kevyn Orr on Tuesday scrapped a scheduled bus tour for Wall Street creditors of the city’s worst areas.

Several creditors decided against taking the tour Wednesday and said they would rather spend time researching the city’s financial condition, the emergency manager’s spokesman Bill Nowling said.

Initially, 25 people — mostly bondholders, insurers and other unsecured creditors from New York City and New Jersey — signed up but several have canceled in the wake of media attention and interest in covering the tour. The tour required creditors to sign a waiver indemnifying the city if anyone was injured or killed during the roughly three-hour trip. . . .

Brasil soccer decapitation leading up to the 2016 Olympics (I didn't even know it was an event)

Soccer referee decapitated after stabbing player to death in Brazil

confedcupball

SAO PAULO (AP) — Police say enraged spectators invaded a football field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body after he stabbed a player to death.
The Public Safety Department of the state of Maranhao says in a statement that it all started when referee Otavio da Silva expelled player Josenir Abreu from a game last weekend. The two got into a fist fight, then Silva took out a knife and stabbed Abreu, who died on his way to the hospital.
The statement issued this week says Abreu's friends and relatives immediately "rushed into the field, stoned the referee to death and quartered his body."
Local news media say the spectators also decapitated Silva and stuck his head on a stake in the middle of the field.
Police have arrested one suspect.

Beheadings merrily heading your way! 'Los Zetas Ruthless Mexican drug cartel recruiting in the U.S.' --and don't forget to 'Celebrate Diversity!' and open borders! (and the next big amnesty!)

Ruthless Mexican drug cartel recruiting in the U.S.; Los Zetas looks to prisons, street gangs

Los Zetas appears to have left a message for rival gang Caballeros Templarios, or Knights Templar, in the form of vandalism of a temple in Michoacan state, Mexico. (Associated Press)

A Mexican drug cartel known for kidnapping random civilians and beheading its rivals has expanded its operations into the U.S.

The gang known as Los Zetas is recruiting U.S. prison and street gangs, and non-Mexicans, for its drug trafficking and support operations in Mexico and the U.S.

An FBI intelligence bulletin notes that “multiple sources” reported the shift in Los Zetas recruiting. The cartel sought to maintain a highly disciplined and structured hierarchy by recruiting members with specialized training, such as former military and law enforcement officers.

“The FBI judges with high confidence that Los Zetas will continue to increase its recruitment efforts and establish pacts with non-military trained, nontraditional associates to maintain their drug-trafficking and support operations, which may increase violence along the Southwest border posing a threat to U.S. national security,” the bulletin says.

The expansion of Los Zetas operations across the southwestern border has long been a concern of U.S. authorities. Trained as an elite band of Mexican anti-drug commandos, Los Zetas evolved into mercenaries for the infamous Gulf Cartel, unleashing a wave of brutality in Mexico’s drug wars.

Bolstered by an influx of assassins, bandits, thieves and thugs, as well as corrupt federal, state and local police officers, the gang has evolved into a well-financed and heavily armed drug-smuggling force of its own.

Known for mounting the severed heads of its rivals on poles or hanging their dismembered bodies from bridges in cities throughout Mexico, Los Zetas easily has become the most feared criminal gang in Mexico. . . .

You have to wonder, do McCain, Rubio and Schumer read stories like this and say to themselves, "This is why we need yet another massive amnesty!"

Victor David Hanson: The Press and Its Faustian Deal with President Obama

HANSON: The press and its Faustian deal

The liberal media are realizing the price of Obama adulation

In the old Dr. Faustus story, a young scholar bargains away his soul to the devil for promises of obtaining almost anything he wants.

The American media has done much the same thing with the Obama administration. In return for empowering a fellow liberal, the press gave up its traditional adversarial relationship with the president.

After five years of basking in a shared progressive agenda, though, the tab for such ecstasy has come due, and now the media is lamenting that it has lost its soul. . . . .

Daily Caller: First annual High School Stupidity Awards (half-nude stoned math teacher, flag-stomping English teacher, government-overthrow courses, too-many-white-dolls studies, transgendered prom queen, teacher with child phobia and more)

The Daily Caller presents: The first annual High School Stupidity Awards

What's your favorite color
Great, when I had math, it was Mr. Pool, gym teacher with a crew-cut.
The dog days of summer are upon us. High school students across the country are enjoying their time off, which means that The Daily Caller can offer far fewer stories about stupid and otherwise outrageous occurrences on campus.
The time is right, then, to celebrate the academic year that was. Here are the stupidest, most outrageous and most cringe-worthy high school moments of 2012-13.
Overland High School (Aurora, Colo.): World’s greatest math teacher ever
Carly McKinney (aka Carly Crunk Bear) is the 23-year-old high school math teacher from Aurora, Colorado who took to Twitter in January with half-nude photos of herself, chatter about getting heroically stoned and an admission that she was tweeting instead of working during school hours. She also tweeted to the world that she had marijuana in her car. The Crunk Bear did not face charges for her boasting. Sadly, however, she was ultimately fired for her hijinks. (RELATED: Revealed: The hot Twitter pics and posts from the world’s greatest high school math teacher)
Chapin High School (Chapin, S.C.): Most bizarre flag-stomping to make some baffling point about symbolism
South Carolina honors English teacher Scott Compton was fired because he threw an American flag on the floor and stomped on it in front of his students during three different class periods. “He proceeds to take down the American flag, and said, ‘This is a symbol, but it’s only a piece of cloth. It doesn’t mean anything,’ and then he throws it down on the floor and then stomps on it, repeatedly,” said the father of a student at Chapin High. Compton ultimately received a whopping $85,000 in a settlement with the Lexington-Richland 5 school district.(RELATED: South Carolina teacher on leave for stomping on American flag in front of class) . . .

Kaboom! Now black mobs kill 4th of July
Fireworks32
The threat of a repeat of black mob violence on the Fourth of July is causing at least three cities to cancel their annual Independence Day fireworks parties.
Black mob violence has marred for several years the annual holiday celebrations in the Cleveland suburb of Bedford. Almost none of which made its way to the local media. But the city council heard an earful from local residents following last year’s holiday violence.
They reported that 50 to 80 black people were hitting people in the face and disrupting the festival and surrounding areas.
“Police officers used pepper ball pellets and a taser,” said city council minutes from a special meeting in August 2012. “Even the Wal-Mart and Get-Go store had to be closed for three hours.”
“The mayor was shocked by what he had witnessed,” said the minutes. The mayor assured the audience that Bedford was “not the only city that had these types of problems.” People were “traveling from city to city just causing problems.”
Because Bedford no longer has a daily newspaper, the city sent out a “Code Red” message warning residents of the violence and lawlessness that was “out of control” at their event. Three surrounding police agencies were called in to quell the violence.
The fire chief said his people were not armed or trained for this kind of activity.
Some of the residents complained of “political correctness” that prevented them from talking about what really happened. City manager Henry Angelo did not deny that black mobs were responsible for the violence. But he did say it was “contemptuous” that anyone would notice. . . .
Bedford is known as the home of Archibald MacNeal Willard, the artist who created the iconic fife and drum painting, “Spirit of ’76.” But in the end, even Willard could not save the fireworks of Bedford and the city council canceled it after deciding it was just too dangerous.
Over at the Cleveland Patch, Steve Smith had a similar experience.
“It’s not fear-mongering to say that these people created a real, dangerous environment.”
Linda Jenkins told the Patch: “We were patient and scared. It was so sad to see families sitting along the sidewalks trying to have a wonderful and traditional outing for most of us to be placed in the middle of madness that’s what it felt like for me.”
The year before, Shaker Heights had a similar experience. A few weeks after that event, a columnist for the Plain Dealer got around to writing:
“We were watching fireworks on July 4th in Shaker Heights. The only fireworks we saw were in the sky, but in another area, kids went wild. Some 500 to 1,000 showed up in a flash mob.
“Harmless fun? Not to the teen who ended up with a broken jaw.” . . .
In a story five months after the riot, David Moore told the Plain Dealer: “What was once a pleasant event has now become a pitched battle at the west end of the show. The point is that the 2012 fireworks were a disaster, and we can’t do much more to enhance security.”
Bedford and Shaker Heights were not the first cities in Ohio to cancel their fireworks because of racial violence. Just the latest. Prior to this year, Euclid and Warrensville Heights also canceled their celebrations after extended experiences with violence.
Shaker Heights had enough. This year they said no more.
So did the residents of the Minneapolis suburb of Richfield. Black mob violence has plagued that city’s Independence Day party since 2006 . . .
As these and other cities canceled their fireworks and surrounding parties, other cities such as Baltimore are gearing up to prepare for the annual violence.
The Baltimore Inner Harbor has been the site of black mob violence during the holiday for years. State legislator Pat McDonough called on the governor last year to declare the upscale Inner Harbor a “No-Go Zone” because of black mob violence. . . .
Ditto at Fort Lauderdale: The city experienced unprecedented black mob violence at the boardwalk over the Memorial Day weekend, and now the city has “tripled the number of officers normally assigned to the beach,” said city commissioner Dean Trantalis. “Be assured: The city is ready for the Fourth of July.”
Last year, Chris Rock began the holiday with an explosive tweet: “Happy white peoples Independence Day. The slaves weren’t free but I’m sure they enjoyed fireworks.”
That night, more than a dozen cities including Chicago, Los Angeles, Cleveland, Columbus, Albany (Georgia,) Waco, Peoria, Greensboro, Peoria experienced large scale black mob violence. Some of the fireworks were canceled before they were over. Some of the crowds shot fireworks at the police.
