AmRen - The Egalitarian Illusion - Jane Weir reviews: Raymond Wolters' 'The Long Crusade: Profiles in Educational Reform–1967-2014' - "The common thread running through most of these experiments is a preoccupation with race ... How do we manage and teach our disadvantaged minorities without acknowledging the basic reality of racial differences in IQ?"

The futile fight against the achievement gap.

Raymond Wolters, The Long Crusade: Profiles in Educational Reform–1967-2014, Washington Summit Publishers, 2015, 595 pp., $32.00 (softcover)
“It’s the biggest train set a boy ever had!” Orson Welles is reported to have said in 1940, upon arriving at a Hollywood soundstage to make Citizen Kane.
I don’t know if the Welles line is apocryphal, but it kept going through my head as I was reading The Long Crusade, Raymond Wolters’s masterful, comprehensive survey of progressive education fads and fallacies of the past half-century or so. A public education system is a huge and expensive train set–and one you cannot shut down. And so there’s endless opportunity for politicians, social engineers, and preening philanthropists to experiment: Chris Whittle’s Edison Project, Wendy Kopp’s Teach for America (and its many spinoffs), charter schools, magnet schools, universal Pre-K, No Child Left Behind, Common Core, etc. ...

Daily Mail: Number of Migrants Entering Britain Breaks All Records in Humiliating Blow to Cameron - People like Cameron, Merkel & Obama need to be peacefully removed from office no later than 2016 --tma

Image result for cameron merkel and obama

The true scale of the immigration crisis facing this country was laid bare last night as damning figures revealed net migration had surged to a record 330,000–a rise of 40 per cent in one year.
It is a humiliating blow to David Cameron after his ‘no ifs, no buts’ pledge to reduce the number to ‘tens of thousands’.
Incredibly, yesterday’s figures do not include illegal immigrants in the UK, estimated at 1.1 million.
The devastating statistics came as thousands of migrants yesterday flooded across the Hungarian border into central Europe. ...

TOO - Kenvin MacDonald - Chemi Shalev: American Jews must oppose Trump’s immigration policy - "Trump’s populist appeal is a real threat to our new, hostile elite because it is fundamentally uncontrollable."

A Haaretz columnist, Chemi Shalev, complains that Jewish organizations have not been up in arms about Donald Trump’s proposed immigration policy. The reason Jewish organizations must act is because over 90 years ago the US passed an immigration restriction bill that shut off the flow of Eastern European Jews to America.

The basic logic here is that the 1924 Immigration Restriction Act was the Original Sin of White America. The attempt on the part of Americans to fashion their immigration policy to retain an ethnic status quo as of 1890 was so horrifically evil that Jewish organizations have a duty to once again bring all the pressure they can muster to allow in every last immigrant who wants to come to America. Needless to say, Israel’s immigration policy — clearly engineered to retain Jewish ethnic dominance — is not at issue for Shalev.
I won’t dispute Shalev’s point that the main concern of White America in 1924 was the influx of Jews, but of course he fails to contextualize this concern properly. As I noted elsewhere, there was an
explicit concern about lack of assimilability. Although the bias toward Northern Europeans did indeed discriminate against Southern and Eastern Europeans, it was obvious from the debates that the main concern was Eastern European Jewish immigrants, large percentages of whom were radicals (see here, p. 271 ff) and none of whom identified with the people or culture of Christian, Northern European America.

PJ Buchanan on Roanoke shootings: Dis-Integrating America - All inevitable, might as well expect tabby cats and wolves to live in harmony. --tma

The Wednesday morning murders of 24-year-old Roanoke TV reporter Alison Parker and cameraman Adam Ward, 27, were a racist atrocity, a hate crime. Were they not white, they would be alive today.
Their killer, Vester L. Flanagan II, said as much in his farewell screed. He ordered his murder weapon, he said, two days after the slaughter of nine congregants at the African-American AME church in Charleston, South Carolina.
“What sent me over the top was the church shooting,” said Flanagan.
To be sure, racism does not fully explain why Flanagan, fired from that same WDBJ7 station, committed this act of pure evil.
Black and homosexual, he said he was the target of anti-gay slurs from black males and racial insults from white colleagues. He had gotten himself fired from other jobs in broadcasting. He carried a grab bag of grudges and resentments.
Yet, in the last analysis, The Washington Post headline got it right: “Gunman’s letter frames attack as racial revenge.”
Other news organizations downplayed the racial aspect. But had those murdered journalists been young and black, and their killer a 40-something “angry white male,” the racial motivation would have been front and center in their stories. ...

Daily Mail: How TV Murderer Was Criticized by Bosses for Appalling Journalistic Standards - Maybe should be subtitled 'Affirmative Action Kills Again'? Otherwise how to explain someone so nutty and incompetent reaching that professional level? --tma

Warped TV reporter Vester Lee Flanagan exasperated bosses with his ‘stiff and nervous’ delivery, his inability to use a teleprompter–and by wearing a President Obama badge during an election report, Daily Mail Online can reveal.
Management at WDBJ dubbed the failed newsman the ‘human tape recorder’ because he frequently parroted what interviewees had told him rather than doing his own journalism.
Flanagan, 41, clashed repeatedly with photojournalists, belittling them in public and intimidating them with his violent temper, according to internal reports.
He was also censured for wearing an Obama sticker while recording a segment at a polling booth during the 2012 US Presidential Election–a clear breach of journalistic impartiality.
The complaints are outlined in court papers seen by Daily Mail Online that include a scathing performance review carried out prior to his termination in Feb 2013.
The station filed the documents to rebutt a wrongful termination claim which he had brought, claiming he was the victim of discrimination because he was black and gay. The station won the case.
Flanagan earned a dismal 1 out of 5 score in several categories for his poor communication skills and a failure to show respect to colleagues.
The veteran multimedia journalist was also criticized for missing deadlines and producing reports that were ‘lean on facts’ and left viewers confused.
Flanagan shot dead two of his ex-coworkers during a live TV segment Wednesday morning before committing suicide.
Viewers of the small CBS affiliate in Moneta, Virginia, watched as he gunned down 24-year-old reporter Alison Parker at close range before turning the weapon on cameraman Adam Ward, 27.
After carrying out the shocking on-air execution he fled in a rental car and committed suicide, but not before tweeting a list of complaints and a chilling first-person video of the killings. ...

AFP: Trump lead grows, Clinton slips: poll - "Other GOP hopefuls seem to disappear"

Washington (AFP) - Billionaire Donald Trump extended his lead yet again atop the Republican presidential field, with front-running Democrat Hillary Clinton slipping and Vice President Joe Biden faring better than her against Republicans, poll results revealed Thursday.

Trump, the combative real estate mogul, leads the 16 other Republican candidates with 28 percent support among registered voters nationwide, up from 20 percent in a similar July 30 survey by Quinnipiac University.
Thursday's lead marks the widest margin for any Republican so far in the election cycle, the survey said.
Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson placed a distant second with 12 percent, followed by former Florida governor Jeb Bush, Senator Ted Cruz and Senator Marco Rubio, each with seven percent.
Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker was next with six percent, and Ohio Governor John Kasich and businesswoman Carly Fiorina each registered five percent. ...

On the Democratic side, Clinton's support has shrunk, to 45 percent now compared with 55 percent on July 30, while her main rival Senator Bernie Sanders is polling at his highest level, 22 percent.
Biden, who is not a declared candidate but is mulling jumping into the race, earned 18 percent in the poll. ...

NewsMachete: #BlackIncitementMatters - "I wish we could have a Donald Trump-like politician for racial issues who could challenge assumptions and set the record straight."

The media constantly inundates us with a persistent message: America is still a deeply racist country. Black children get suspended from school in disproportionate numbers. Racism. Policemen stop and frisk a disproportionate number of black people. Racism. Policeman shoots a black person. Always racism, regardless of the circumstances. Not enough black Ph.D's, tech workers in Silicon Valley, M.D.'s, or whatever else you can think of. Racism.

In light of years and years of this it would only be natural for some black people to believe this and be very hostile to whites. And the nuttiest of them, Like Vester Lee Flannigan, absorb all that hatred and buys a gun and executes two white people, Alison Parker and Adam Ward.

Flanagan, who is African American, wrote that Parker made 'racist comments' and that a complaint was filed against her through the equal employment opportunity commission, but his station chose to hire her anyway.
As Flannigan put it:

'Why did I do it? I put down a deposit for a gun on 6/19/15. The Church shooting in Charleston happened on 6/17/15…'

'What sent me over the top was the church shooting. And my hollow point bullets have the victims’ initials on them.'

'As for Dylann Roof? You [redacted]! You want a race war [redacted]? BRING IT THEN YOU WHITE …[redacted]!!!”

Reportedly, the reasons Flannigan was fired from the station after a year were his poor performance and his temper, so it sounds as if this was just a handy excuse for him to grab onto for his final berserker.

Flannigan was incensed by the white gunman who killed parishioners in a black church. This crime, while terrible, was part of the only 7% of black victims who are killed by nonblacks.
We all know the real problems black people face. ...
