German Chancellor says it is necessary to prevent others copying Britain

Financial markets fear EU is 'no longer governable' after Brexit, she said

Merkel is due to meet with French President Francois Hollande later today

Angela Merkel has said the EU needs to stop other countries following Britain out of the door amid market fears that the bloc is 'no longer governable' after Brexit.
The German Chancellor told her conservative party board in a conference call that it was necessary to prevent other European Union members going down the same path as Britain.
Merkel is also said to have revealed that international financial markets are concerned the EU is 'no longer governable' in the wake of Britain's exit vote.

EU should instead act on popular concerns such as securing the bloc's borders, creating jobs and improve internal security, she said. ...

No kidding, Angela Einstein? But who in the world is crazy enough to believe 'Mama Merkel' anymore?

Legal expert: Idaho US Attorney comments threaten free speech rights - "It looks like an attempt to chill constitutionally protected speech through the threat of federal prosecution."

Posted by Ann Corcoran on June 27, 2016
The Idaho controversy surrounding the alleged sexual assault (by three boys from Sudan and Iraq) of a 5 year old Twin Falls girl just keeps growing—now even to the Washington Post.
See this very informative column by Eugene Volokh*** who first gives the facts as we know them about the controversy, excerpts the written press statement by US Attorney Wendy Olson (see our post yesterday), and then says this (emphasis is mine). Hat tip: Paul
This, it seems to me, goes beyond calling for accuracy (and trying to deter threats, which are indeed criminally punishable). The prosecutor — a prosecutor backed by the might of the federal government — is not just condemning “threatening statements.” She is equally condemning “inflammatory” statements “about the perpetrators or the crime,” as well as “the spread of false information.”

There is no First Amendment exception for “inflammatory” statements; and even false statements about matters of public concern, the Supreme Court has repeatedly held, are an inevitable part of free debate. While deliberate lies about particular people may lead to criminal punishment in some states that have carefully crafted “criminal libel” statutes, that would be under state law, not federal law; and though Idaho still has an old criminal libel law, it is almost never used, and is likely unconstitutionally drafted given modern First Amendment standards. Moreover, honest mistakes on matters of public concern are often constitutionally protected, especially against criminal punishment.
The federal prosecutor surely knows how to speak carefully and precisely about what very limited sorts of speech she can prosecute. Yet she chose to equally threaten federal prosecution not just for the punishable true threats — or for the deliberate lies that may be punished under state but not federal law — but also for an unspecified range of “inflammatory … statements about the perpetrators or the crime itself,” as well as for “the spread of false information” (with no limitation on the spread of deliberate lies).
It looks like an attempt to chill constitutionally protected speech through the threat of federal prosecution.
A commenter to Volokh’s piece, David Behar, says he filed this complaint against Olson:

Breitbart: North Dakota Resettlement Agency Caught in Apparent Lie as County Confirms Four Refugees with Active TB

Dr. John Baird, Health Officer for the Fargo Cass Public Health Department in North Dakota, confirms to Breitbart News that the agency, which serves all of Cass County, has diagnosed and treated four refugees with active tuberculosis (TB) between 2012 and 2015.

Baird’s confirmation of active TB among refugees in the Fargo community comes barely a month after a spokesperson for Lutheran Social Services of North Dakota (LSSND), the resettlement agency hired by the federal government to operate the program in North Dakota, denied that any refugees it has resettled in North Dakota have been diagnosed with active TB. ...

Daily Mail: Brexit could spark rush on Channel tunnel as migrants fear 'Berlin-style Wall' - Berlin Wall for trapping Germans inside, not stopping a Muslim invasion. --tma

Britain's decision to quit the EU could lead to a summer surge in illegal migrants trying to enter the country from France, the head of Eurotunnel has warned.
Jacques Gounon, the firm's chief executive and chairman, said Brexit had given migrants a "clear signal" that the Anglo-French border would become "a huge wall, similar to the Berlin Wall, almost impossible to overcome".
He spoke in Calais as the company unveiled new aerial drones armed with cameras to boost security on the French side of the tunnel by spotting potential trespassers. ...

WND: Explosive new twist in Idaho sex assault case - This is our Occupation Government: Muslim violence so Feds threaten Americans. --tma

The Obama-appointed U.S. attorney for Idaho has taken the highly unusual step of intervening in a local criminal case involving an alleged sexual assault by juvenile Muslim migrants and threatened the community and media with federal prosecution if they “spread false information or inflammatory statements about the perpetrators.”
WND and other news outlets have reported on the case involving three juvenile boys, two from Sudan and one from Iraq, who allegedly sexually assaulted a 5-year-old special-needs girl in the laundry room of the Fawnbrook Apartments in Twin Falls, Idaho. ...

Jim Goad, Taki's Magazine: Mexplaining Mexican Pride - "absurd is the specter of people who ran screaming from the flaming abyss that is Mexico proudly waving Mexican flags in the USA"

Mexplaining Mexican Pride

The most feral and violent contingent of anti-Trump protesters appears to consist of unabashed Mexican supremacists falsely accusing Trump of being a white supremacist. They are so irreparably dim that they appear to believe that by stomping on cars, throwing rocks at police, and sucker-punching white people, they will finally quell all doubt about whether they deserve to be here.
Behold the parallel-universe specter of hateful assholes hatefully screaming and hatefully attacking people while toting placards that read STOP THE HATE. Even more absurd is the specter of people who ran screaming from the flaming abyss that is Mexico proudly waving Mexican flags in the USA. ...
Well done, Goad. Of course ethnic pride, like family pride, needs no rational justification. Ironic that Whites are the only people in the world prohibited from having such feelings, a people who could list a New York Phone Directory-sized list of inventions and accomplishments. Things like moon landings and computers aside, there would probably be hundreds of entries under such topics as machine tool inventions, mineralogical discoveries and advances in racehorse right-front hoof veterinary medicine. Yes, the media are always reporting that there has just been another 'face-off' between anti-Trump protesters and Trump supporters. Okay, if a face-off means violent thugs blindsiding, outnumbering and running to ground individual Trump supporters who innocently thought they were simply attending a festive political campaign rally that was once as American as apple pie. Alas, under our Open-Borders Overlords, no more.

RR Watch / Don Barnett - Bottom line: Refugee Resettlement Program in Tennessee, as in all states, huge costs to taxpayers, shrouded in secrecy and Orwellian claims. --tma

This is an opinion piece published in The Tennessean yesterday and posted in its entirety here with permission from the author.
Barnett is an expert on the UN/US State Department Refugee Admissions Program and its history having followed its progression for literally two decades.
Before the Refugee Act of 1980, refugee resettlement was the work of true sacrificial charity, where sponsors and charities committed to maintaining and supporting the refugees with housing and employment, even medical care if needed. There was an explicit bar to the access of welfare benefits. The sponsor was responsible for all costs. This helped to guarantee assimilation and is how we absorbed post-WWII refugees, those fleeing communist oppression in Eastern Europe, the Hungarian Revolution and other upheavals.
Don Barnett 2
Barnett is a longtime resident of the Nashville, TN area
With the 1980 Refugee Act and related laws, the charities morphed into money-making federal contractors whose main job is to link the refugees with social services and welfare benefits. The 1980 act made all welfare available to refugees upon arrival — for life, if eligibility is maintained.
Originally, the Refugee Act included three years of federal refugee cash assistance and medical insurance. As well, state governments were reimbursed for their expenditures on welfare used by refugees, such as Medicaid (TennCare), for three years. By 1991, reimbursement from the feds for state welfare expenditures had been completely eliminated and the three-year period of refugee cash and medical assistance for refugees was limited to eight months.
According to the most recent government data, even those refugees in the country for five years are largely dependent on taxpayer largesse. Sixty percent of this group receives food stamps and 17 percent are on the cash welfare program Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF). A nationwide U.S. Department of Health and Human Services study shows 44 percent are still in Medicaid and 29 percent of families who have been here for five years have one or more members on the lifetime cash welfare program Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
This gives an idea of the costs to the federal taxpayer and of the unfunded federal mandate placed upon state taxpayers by this program.
Because of the byzantine structure of Tennessee’s program, there is no way to get exact costs. ...
