WSJ - Voter dissatisfaction with Ryan grows - Yet Ryan gets near unanimous GOP support - me: no more votes for Ryan lapdogs like Tom McClintock

WND - Buchanan: Is Macron the EU's last best hope? - Even if Le Pen loses, can populism peak when problems driving get ever worse?

For the French establishment, Sunday’s presidential election came close to a near-death experience. As the Duke of Wellington said of Waterloo, it was a “damn near-run thing.”
Neither candidate of the two major parties that have ruled France since Charles De Gaulle even made it into the runoff, an astonishing repudiation of France’s national elite.
Marine Le Pen of the National Front ran second with 21.5 percent of the vote. Emmanuel Macron of the new party En Marche! won 23.8 percent.
Macron is a heavy favorite on May 7. The Republicans’ Francois Fillon, who got 20 percent, and the Socialists’ Benoit Hamon, who got less than 7 percent, both have urged their supporters to save France by backing Macron. ...

Antifa flies under the radar despite escalating acts of violence against president's supporters

On April 15, a pro-Trump, pro-free-speech rally at University of California, Berkeley, descended into violent mayhem after radical far-leftists — members of the organization Antifa — began to attack the peacefully assembled crowd.
Antifa, which stands for “anti-fascist action,” is a network of loosely affiliated far-left anarchist and communist groups that orchestrate violent protests and attacks on populists, conservatives, and anyone else its members deem to be “fascists” or “Nazis.” ...

VDare - John Reid: Supreme Court Precedent Says Berkeley Must Let Ann Speak–And Protect Her From Antifa, Too!

In the mid-1960s, left-wing University of California Berkeley students refused to abide by the administration’s restrictions against campus political activism, launching the so-called Free Speech Movement, which is widely credited for sparking campus radicalism across the country. Alameda Deputy County District Attorney Ed Meese prosecuted the students, and Ronald Reagan made their lawlessness a top campaign issue in his successful 1966 California gubernatorial election. Subsequently Reagan became President and Meese became his Attorney General—and the campus radicals took over universities from the top down. With their cultural power consolidated, free speech no longer serves the Left, and the birthplace of the “Free Speech Movement” is doing its best to keep Ann Coulter from speaking. ...

Reuters: Pence says US will honor refugee deal with Australia - Trump swampizing continues. (If Trump supporters don't criticize these things, all pressure will be on the other side.) --tma

U.S. Vice President Mike Pence said on Saturday the United States would honor a controversial refugee deal with Australia, under which the United States would resettle up to 1,250 asylum seekers, a deal President Donald Trump had described as "dumb".

Pence told a joint news conference with Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull that the deal would be subject to vetting, and that honoring it "doesn't mean that we admire the agreement".

"We will honor this agreement out of respect to this enormously important alliance," Pence said at Turnbull's harbor side official residence in Sydney. ...

[Globalist] Bloomberg: With Merkel's Foes in Disarray, Germany Defies the Trump Trend - To survive Germans must awaken --tma

Back in January, Frauke Petry of the Alternative for Germany party shared a stage with her fellow populist leaders from across Europe to mark what was billed as “the Year of Patriots.”
Buoyed by the election of Donald Trump, Petry joined Marine Le Pen of France and Dutchman Geert Wilders in the German city of Koblenz to predict that Europe’s establishment was about to be swept away.
Three months later ...
Merkel’s party and its affiliates “have changed their refugee policy by nearly 180 degrees, without, of course, declaring that they have done so.” ...
Really? Now taking in almost no 'refugees'? First I've heard of it.
