Refugee Resettlement Watch: NGOs organize Cambodian protesters to oppose Australia refugee deal - "What! Not 'welcoming' refugees in Cambodia? Are these Cambodians racists, xenophobes (maybe even Islamophobes)?"

NGOs organize Cambodian protesters to oppose Australia refugee deal

What! Not “welcoming” refugees in Cambodia? Are these Cambodians racists, xenophobes (maybe even Islamophobes)?

If you are arriving here for the first time, please see our ‘Australia category’ for all the background on this.  The gist of it is that Australia has struck a very lucrative deal for the Cambodian government to take some of Australia’s boat people asylum-seekers and resettle them in Cambodia.
Australian Immigration Minister Scott Morrison royally ticked-off the humanitarian industrial complex when he dared ask—if the asylum seekers want safety, then why not resettle in Cambodia?  Why, he asked, do they have a right to a first world country?   See our recent post.
So here is the latest:  The Leftwing Non-governmental Organizations have ginned-up demonstrations in Phnom Penh where demonstrators demanded that Australia keep the asylum seekers.
You know what strikes me as so funny (sort of) is that no one calls the Cambodians “racists” or “xenophobes” for not wanting the refugees and wanting their own people taken care of first!    Imagine if we took to the streets with placards not wanting to “welcome” refugees! ...
