Rarely mentioned. Many multiculturalists have argued: 'No problem--we are simply becoming more like fabulous Brazil!' These people seem to be making a long-term argument, but notice they still need to freeze time. Okay, maybe we can exist with even greater extremes of rich and poor, massive corruption and sprawling shantytowns, etc. We will still have some semblance of democracy and vibrant locations like Rio and The Girl From Ipanema cool, cool jazzy opulent lifestyles. But even if so, for how long? What will Brazil's demographics look like 500 years from now?
