Altamaha Carter Eco Split-Personality Disorder

The Way to Think About Rivers

Carter-Altamaha-700x450

By Jimmy Carter, Nature Conservancy Magazine

For a birder, adding a new species to your life list is a thrill. My wife, Rosalynn, and I have been avid birders for many years, and although the Altamaha River means many things to many people, I’ll always remember it as the place where I added the lesser yellowlegs to my list.

Thousands of migratory birds like the lesser yellowlegs rely on the Altamaha River for shelter and sustenance. Formed at the confluence of the Ocmulgee and Oconee rivers, the Altamaha runs free through sparsely populated southeast Georgia for 137 miles, earning it the distinction of being one of the largest undammed river systems on the East Coast. The river quietly winds through deep forests and swamps and nourishes vast salt marshes as it mixes with the Atlantic Ocean, feeding the Georgia coast where some areas remain near-pristine. ...

Sadly, President Jimmy Carter is the ultimate type-A museum exhibit of Liberal Eco Multiple-Personality Disorder, whereby someone, on the one hand, fashionably, and commendably, does everything possible to protect natural wildlife areas, while, on the other, fashionably does everything they can to initiate, carry out, approve, sanction, support, shy away from (the issue) or ignore pro massive in-migration policies that will continually redouble America’s overpopulation numbers, which will eventually turn those same protected natural areas into ever more balkanized degraded corrupted third-world teeming shantytown anthills. But why sugarcoat it?

Seriously, this environmental dual-personality syndrome seems to have all the earmarks of people--Al Gore, anyone?--who are determined to always appear piously fashionably enlightened in regards to every issue on the map, even if their left hand keeps brutally smacking down the good that they have accomplished with their right--and then some.

Finally, right now ruling elites, including the mainstream media, in all Western nations are in the process of demographically erasing Westerners. It shows how deep is our people's denial that we think that all of these carefully crafted agreements, devised by The Nature Conservancy and others, to save the environment will survive the insatiable human demands for natural resources as populations continue to redouble, at the same time that there will no longer be any more of we goody-two-shoes Westerners running around trying to move heaven and earth to save the California Condor and the Oahu Tree Snail.

The natural environment is blessed, but then finally cruelly cursed to have friends like these.
