2014 was a year of protest. People all around the world flooded the streets to protest police brutality, crime rates, inflation and shortages of basic goods. An image that connects these disparate demonstrations is the ubiquitous Guy Fawkes mask. Fawkes was best-known as a conspirator of the Gunpowder Plot, an attempt to blow up the House of Lords in London in 1605. Fawkes was hanged for high treason. 

The mask gained popularity after the 2005 movie "V for Vendetta." Now the mask is a symbol of change by demonstrators. Let's take a look back at some of these demonstrations and where the Guy Fawkes mask was worn. (Yahoo News)
