Poinsettia ban at courthouse has some seeing red
*Note to highly valued readers of this blog: Since there has been a sudden surge of interest in this blog entry of a couple years ago, I wanted to come back and check if the link still worked, and found out that it did not, at least when I just tried it. I'm very sorry about that! I wanted to supply a new link, but can't find that newspaper story as a direct link, but as archived at other sites, some of them requiring payment. The odd thing is that this story is referred to as recent in news articles from 2001 to 2013.
From what I have read, these dangerous leafy symbols of Christianity--and let's be honest, in some cases, white European peoples--have been a running controversy. The Ramsey County Courthouse manager reportedly said that the flowers that were normally placed in the courthouse would block the new security screening area, and would be replaced by flags from around the world. That last part sounds like a parody of political correctness and a confirmation of the 'War on Christmas,' but it seemed to be a serious part of the article read.
If I had time to research this further, I imagine concentrating on the archives of the Star Tribune would eventually be successful. Again, if you tried the link and it did not work, my apologies!
Thank you much for visiting and please come back--and, again, Merry Christmas!
