1. Iraqi refugees make up the largest population of newcomers in Oregon, and most of the Western United States.
Decades of war and civil unrest have led to mass immigration out of Iraq. In July 2014, the United Nations reported that more that 1.9 million Iraqis have lost or been forced from their homes in the past 20 years.
