US Congress hangs Cops-as-Pigs painting in Capitol - David Pulphus painting won contest sponsored by Cong Lacy Clay (D-MO) - Please sign removal petition! --tma
The painting excerpted above depicts police officers as pigs aiming guns at protesters during the unrest in Ferguson, Missouri.
It is currently displayed in the tunnel between the Capitol and the Longworth House Office Building, where many members of Congress and their staff work. The artist, David Pulphus, won a contest to have his art displayed. The contest was sponsored by Congressman Lacy Clay (D-MO).
Mr. Pulphus is a high school student from Missouri who certainly knows how to create an attention-grabbing image. D.C.'s Fraternal Order of Police is not impressed with the political message of the work. Their Lodge #1 President called the piece "offensive and disgusting." ...
The US Congress should announce that it wants zero police protection, particularly for Speaker Ryan.
