Jeff Sessions plans to testify before the Senate panel considering his selection as attorney general Tuesday morning that, if confirmed, he would tell the president “no” if he overreached and wouldn’t be a “mere rubber stamp.”
Mr. Sessions faces the first in a series of potentially contentious hearings into the proposed cabinet choices of President-elect Donald Trump. The Alabama Republican also intends to directly take on the issues of civil and voting rights that critics are certain to bring up at the hearing, saying he would make enforcement to ensure voting access a “special priority,” according to his prepared remarks. ...
