Who can say for sure, but I recall do-gooder teachers, undoubtedly mostly either white or Semitic, basing these low black self-esteem 'facts' on their profound experiences of looking at some crayon self-portrait drawing made by a black preschooler that would seem to be minimalist or incomplete, and so their natural reaction: 'Horrors! This is because they have been stunted by racism!'
Makes one remember all of the interesting casual sexual practices that cultural anthropologist Margaret Mead merrily 'discovered' in Samoa that years later were shown to be bogus. When Cultural Marxism marches though your institutions, the social sciences, as well as such subjects as English Literature, Art and even Psychiatry become fanatically result-driven.

Black individuals have been found to report the highest levels of self-esteem of any racial group in the United States. The purpose of the present research was to examine whether Black individuals also report higher levels of narcissism than White individuals."
It was first reported several years ago that studies were showing that black students, on average, had higher levels of self-esteem than white students. So how was it that for decades before that every social science teacher and their brother were so certain that things were the exact opposite? And how did that notion become enshrined in government social policy, backing up everything from spending to busing to affirmative action?
